The spread of the coronavirus has unleashed turmoil on the financial markets. Pension funds are also affected by these developments. At the same time, measures taken by the Swiss Federal Council also pose a challenge for pension funds to maintain their day-to-day business as best as possible without endangering employees and the population at large.

Profond pursues a long-term strategy for both investment and investment yield. In good investment years – such as 2019 – Profond invests in its own financial stability. In this way, short-term fluctuations in the financial markets are balanced out. In addition, Profond enjoys a comfortable cash ratio and ongoing investment returns. This also ensures Profond’s financial stability and pension commitments. The processing of customer communications and the payment of current pensions remain assured, since Profond employees are almost exclusively working from home.

We are maintaining our investment strategy and continue to operate as usual. Management and the Foundation Board are nevertheless closely monitoring the current situation and financial market developments.
