Do you understand your pension certificate? Learn everything you need to know in our educational videos.
At the beginning of the year, employees in Switzerland receive their pension certificate from the Pension Fund. This shows all relevant information on occupational retirement benefits. But many people don't know what the different figures mean. And without knowledge of the context of the figures, the pension certificate remains an abstract piece of paper that hardly receives any attention. Many people wonder, for example, how the pension they will receive is calculated, what lies behind the term risk contribution, or why the insured wage is less than the annual salary.
Valuable knowledge for active financial planning
Understanding the pension certificate is important, however, because the second pillar makes up the largest portion of the private wealth of gainfully employed people in Switzerland. And only those who are in the know about it can actively shape their financial future. "In discussions with our insured members, we have found that there is little knowledge about the second pillar and there is a lot of uncertainty," says Christian Fuchs, head of pensions and deputy managing director of Profond. Often, the insured would not be able to say how much money they had actually saved for their own retirement or what benefits the family would receive in the event of death, Fuchs said.
E-learning in the ten most important languages in Switzerland
We have therefore produced short educational videos with which the insured can close the gaps in their knowledge about the pension certificate. The e-learning has been implemented in the ten most spoken languages in Switzerland and thus offers newcomers an easy-to-understand introduction to the topic. The educational videos explain the individual points using the Profond pension certificate. However, because all the pension certificates of the Swiss pension funds are similarly structured, the videos are instructive for all employees in Switzerland.
